It is so much more than just the joy of creating the artwork - it's also the profound joy of getting to know each of my subjects.
Through patience and the time we spend together, I'm given the rare privilege of witnessing a small, unguarded piece of their lives.
A Life Spent Watching
For more than 30 years, I've been drawn to the stories unfolding around us—whether in the wild, in the quiet corners of home, or in moments most people pass by without noticing.
My work has been featured by National Geographic's Daily Dozen and Virginia Wildlife Magazine, but what continues to inspire me is the chance to reveal the wonder, humor, and beauty hidden in everyday life.
This composite is one of only three in my portfolio. Created from photographs I've made over the years, it reflects the world I imagine surrounding me: curious, chaotic, and full of stories.
Stories Found
Some stories can only be discovered, never planned. The more time spent with a subject, the more its character begins to emerge—its habits, quirks, and quiet routines. Over time, that familiarity opens a window into moments that are far more extraordinary: moments of drama, tenderness, humor, and beauty that might otherwise go unnoticed. These images are the result of countless hours spent watching, waiting, and recognizing the moments when those stories reveal themselves.
Small Wonders
Their stories may be small, but their personalities are anything but. Curious, playful, and endlessly entertaining, these images celebrate the charm, humor, and character of our familiar squirrel friends—and remind us that some of life's best stories are unfolding all around us.
